Books To Check Out This Halloween Season

Here are a few lists of books you might want to check out this Halloween season.

The first list, from Epic Reads, is books that might be a good fit for fans of the Stranger Things TV show.  The list contains thirteen different books, all selected based on a different part of the hit show.  One of the books selected is Shallow Graves by Kali Wallace.  I blogged a bit about this book back in June, judging it to be a decent story, but not one that made any major impact on me.  Other books mentioned include Replica, The Outliers, and the graphic novel series Paper Girls.

Epic Reads also offers up a list of YA books with protagonists that are not quite human.  Replica also makes an appearance on this list, as does the upcoming Fate of Flames by Sarah Raughley, about four girls with powers to control the elements who are tasked with defending the world from evil.  The popular Cinder series can also be found here.

Paper Fury provides suggestions for readers who like stories about creepy small towns, starting off with the popular The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater.  Neil Gaiman’s book The Ocean at the End of The Lane can also be found here, as well as Wink Poppy Midnight by April Genevieve Tucholke.  Thought they can’t be found on this list, The Creeping and The Telling by Alexandra Sirowy also seems like a good option for people interested in these kinds of books.  Readers also might want to check out the duology Ruined and Unbroken by Paula Morris, though New Orleans doesn’t really fit the “little town” category.

Finally, Book.Blog.Bake. suggests ten books for people who like the television show Supernatural.  The list includes The Demon’s Lexicon series by Sarah Rees Brennan.  While I haven’t read this series, I did enjoy the author’s other series The Lynburn Legacy.  There is another Neil Gaiman sighting on this list, with the soon-to-be-adapted American Gods making the cut.
